I have been using stremio for the last couple of days but when it starts, it activates my Nvidia GPU. Even though I force it to use internal Intel GPU in both windows graphics settings and Nvidia center, it seems those settings doesn't have any effect on stremio. Is this a known thing? Some people says stremio is using GPU for bitcoin mining. I also suspect this cause my GPU usage is around %35 when just using stremio. I am sorry if it's been asked before, I haven't found any answer on the internet, though
Interesting LTT Video on a software modded bitcoin mining GPU used for gaming!
He attempts to rig together something similar to nvidia optimus on a desktop using iGPU and a dGPU. the dGPU has no display outputs. It's also cheap at only $60 for a "gtx 1060" ! I paid $300 for mine! it does have a lot of drawbacks and I honestly wouldn't trust it for a daily driver with windows 10 constant updates. You also lost any optimizations. Really just an interesting footnote forgot the link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY4s35uULg4
What of my current build should I prioritize upgrading first? (For 144hz gaming)
Hello /buildapc ! I am considering upgrading my system but recently so many new things came out and therefore accident with GPU's for bitcoin mining happened, so I am out of the clue on what should I prioritize upgrading. My specs currently are: MOBO - MSI Z87-G45 Gaming GPU - MSI R9 390 8G CPU - Intel Core i5-4670 @ 3.40GHz RAM - Corsair Vengeane 8 GB (2x4GB) @1600mhz PSU - Corsair RM650 HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1 TB SSD - Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB Operating System - Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit Monitor - AOC Gaming G2460VQ6, 75Hz, AMD FreeSync 90% of the time I am playing Overwatch so I want to buy a 144Hz monitor. As far as I know its cpu-beefy game so in order to achieve 144hz (Which I currently can't) what should I focus on upgrading? New Mobo + Skylake/Ryzen Cpu + DDR4 ram or new GPU? Thank you in advance. Personally Im leaning towards mobo/cpu/ram combination since most of AMD cards are out of stock or prices went up badly, but Im not quite sure what to do or what to buy yet. Edit: If upgrading rest of the system without GPU/PSU, wouldnt it be worth it to buy i7-4790K and 8gb more ram rather than half of a new rig with i5-6600k?
Hey guys, after discovering this sub I've decided I wanted to start building a homelab. I've been running VMware Workstation on my desktop and now want to get a dedicated VM host to start off my homelab. I don't really know much about hardware, I've been reading up online as well as this sub's wiki, but theres much I still don't understand and if I need it. I'm thinking about building my own, the guides in this wiki recommend dell/hp servers, which would cheaper? I rather buy new than used/refurbished. I don't need the best, just the best for the money. My main concern is which generation of parts/technologies should I get, that is easily upgradable and somewhat future proof. I want to be able to host 10-15 VMs and be able to remote into host to access them. Now my question: * Which Intel CPU should I get? Xeon, is i7 no good? * Which is more cost effective 32gb or 64gb ram? * Everything about motherboards confuse me, which generation of technologies should I get and somewhat future proof. * What features should my case have? * I want to get my first GPU for bitcoin mining and light gaming, whats the best bang for buck? * PSU how much watts do I need for 10-15 VMs and power efficient for 24/7 use. EDIT: $1200 budget Thanks in advance!
Bitcoin is surging, should allow mining to start again, which will reduce the second hand market for GPU's. AND AMD's cards are compute beasts! GPU division should benefit.
Bitcoin is smashing it, if and its a big if, it carries on it should push mining back in the game. Also AMD latest cards are compute beasts with someone on reddit buying a 100 GPU's to start mining. This could have two good outcomes for AMD. Less cards in the used market to compete against. And sell more of the new cards. Imagine if Lisa guided up for next quarter because of GPU not lagging anymore. Should keep on eye out on this. AMD might start selling more cards very soon
FPS in games goes to hell when NOT moving the mouse for about 20-30 seconds, but as soon as I move my mouse at all it shoots right back up to 40-60. Happens in all new games and in non-steam games.
I've even unplugged my mouse dongle and played with only a controller and it still happens. I've tried googling the issue but all I can find are people who have the opposite issue. It is impossible for me to play any games with just a controller. Thanks for your help! A few updates: Problem not present on clean boot Next step will be to narrow down the service that is causing it Running windows 7x64 ultimate AMD Radeon 7770 Desktop PC Solved! thanks to tech_ support_ I was able to narrow down the cause: the offending process was iehighutil.exe, and was installed to my C:\Temporary directory. According to a quick google search it seems as if it is a virus of some sort that was possibly using my GPU for bitcoin mining. It is not detected by microsoft security essentials or malwarebytes anti-malware. By ending that process in task manager I was able to resolve the framerate issue, which makes sense if it truly was using my GPU. Kinda scary! Thanks for the help!
